Displays present a new view, technicolor too
Barco (Booth #4729) is showcasing an exceptionally bright color display system equipped with Diagnostic Luminance technology. The Coronis Color 3MP Diagnostic Luminance offers the benefits of color without compromising grayscale quality, presenting color and grayscale images with considerable brightness and contrast for the entire lifetime of the display. Barco’s Uniform Luminance Technology corrects luminance non-uniformities that are typical for traditional LCDs and backlights.Barco also is demonstrating its Nio Fusion 4MP advanced display system for viewing multiple PACS images at the same time or for working with large CT data sets throughout the hospital. Using the company’s DuoView application, Nio Fusion 4MP is easily integrated and fully compatible with legacy PACS.
Double Black Imaging (DBI; Booth #4170) is announcing the release of X-Cal Calibration software, the company’s proprietary package for automatic DICOM calibration and display quality assurance. This allows for both complete QA of their LCDs and front DICOM calibration. X-Cal consists of two components, a local agent package and a network administrative package. Paired together with their displays, this software and hardware combination allows each display to be remotely calibrated to the DICOM grayscale display function and monitored from a central workstation, send notifications to the central workstation or administrator when the LCD requires service, and allow the administrator to adjust and perform DICOM 3.14 Calibration on each LCD from the remote location.DBI also is launching DICOMetrix, a DICOM image flow and network performance monitoring system. DICOMetrix is a resource tool that enables PACS administrators, directors, and IT personnel to actively monitor, historically track system performance, and alert radiology and PACS support staff about system slowdowns and outages.
DBI also is exhibiting a 45-inch high-brightness, high-contrast Color LCD suited for operating rooms and ER environments — with full 1920 x 1080 resolution, 500 cd/m2 brightness, and a contrast ratio of 800:1.
Lastly, DBI is showing 2 and 3 MP high-brightness color LCDs with retractable front sensors for automatic DICOM calibration and QA. These color LCDs will join the current M-Series line.
Eizo Nanao Technologies (Booth #6747) is demonstrating a number of its latest grayscale and color monitors. For starters, the company’s Radiforce GS510 and GS510-G5 megapixel monochrome monitors can be used for digital mammography, DR and CR. Both models offer a display of high-fidelity images with a choice of glare (GS510-G) or anti-glare (GS510) panels depending on their environment.Eizo also is featuring the RadiForce GS320 (standard model) and GX320 (high-end model), both 3MP monochrome LCD monitors for assorted applications such as PACS, CR, CT, MRI and angiography.
As for color monitors, Eizo’s RadiForce RS410 is a 4 MP color LCD monitor intended for display of color and grayscale gradations for MRI, CT, PET, CR images and 3D rendering.
The RadiForce RX210 is EIZO’s latest 2 MP color LCD offering high luminance for accurate display of color and grayscale images for 3D color rendering and image fusion.
Lastly, EIZO is showcasing its FlexScan S2411W-M for HIS terminals and specially designed to meet the display requirements of a PACS distributed where DICOM images are desired to be displayed.
Image Systems (Booth #8344) is launching its latest Calibration Feedback System (CFS) software. CFS is designed to simplify the calibration and configuration of radiology displays to present accurate and consistent images. The latest release includes an Add-on Front Sensor that provides hands-free conformance and calibration of commercial displays not manufactured with an integrated front sensor.
Image Systems also is showcasing 2 and 3 MP high-brightness LCDs enabling both color and monochrome diagnostic-quality imaging combined in a single monitor. Image Systems’ 42-inch LCD can be used for clinical and surgical suite imaging. A new line of CRT-to-LCD replacement modality displays also is being demonstrated.
National Display Systems (Booth #3165) is demonstrating its PrimeVue high-brightness 2, 3, and 4 MP color displays, dual link support on 3 MP and 5 MP AXIS monochrome displays, and 3 MP or 4 MP PrimeVue.
The AXIS and PrimeVue displays include NVIDIA high-speed graphic cards and built-in DICOM calibration with six factory display viewing protocols and one user-definable response for simple setup and reconfiguration.
The high-brightness color PrimeVue 3MP display provides 400 cd/m2 peak luminance with a 400:1 contrast ratio and a grayscale pallet derived from 6,631 gray levels from 12-bit precision tables. The PrimeVue 4MP offers 250 cd/m2 peak luminance and a 450:1 contrast ratio in an HDTV (16:9) format of 2560 x 1600.
The AXIS Series III and V radiology displays also are being highlighted, which utilize the same 3 x 8-bit data set as the PrimeVue and with any graphic card supporting dual-link panel technology. The displays provide easy integration with most PACS, as the graphics card is neutral.
NEC Display Solutions (Booth #6503) is previewing its 5 MP display, which will complete the company’s full medical diagnostic offering (2, 3, and 5 MP). NEC also is previewing the LCD2690UXi, part of its Professional 90 series. The LCD2690UXi is a 26-inch-wide aspect display, brightness 400 cd/m, contrast 800, resolution 1920 x 1200. Lastly, NEC is showing a new line of multifunction displays that have full HD (1080p) resolution and DICOM settings that deliver superior image quality in operating rooms.
Planar Systems (Booth #8308) is featuring its Dome EX line of medical displays. The EX line includes Planar’s Dome E4c, for use in radiology, cardiology, nuclear medicine, PET/CT, dermatology, and the OR, which features a widescreen, 16:9 format that eliminates the image split associated with dual-head monitors. The E4c as well as the Dome E2c and E3c, also included in the EX line, are built to improve visualization of various color modalities, 2D color imaging, image fusion, and 3D imaging. Planar also is showing color and grayscale displays in 2 MP and 3 MP, along with a 5 MP grayscale display, that are part of the EX line. The grayscale displays are designed for CT, MR, ultrasound, CR, DR, nuclear medicine, digitized film, and mammography.
Quest International (Booth #8510) is highlighting the new Totoku ME551i2 5 MP display that recently gained FDA clearance for use in all digital mammography applications. The ME551i2 is a 21.3-inch, 5 MP, DICOM-compliant diagnostic display with an 11.9-bit grayscale palette and 750 cd/m2 brightness. In addition, the uniformity matrix luminance equalization feature achieves highly accurate luminance uniformity across the screen. Another notable characteristic of ME551i2 is its display accuracy control capability. The Sentinel II photometer is mounted in front of the screen and monitors the backlight constantly to stabilize luminance accurately.Richardson Electronics Display Systems Group (Booth #8344) is showcasing its complete line of custom mounting solutions at RSNA, with two additional fixed-mount solutions and a new line of mobile clinical carts that can accommodate small- and large-screen LCDs. Richardson’s wall mount solutions offer improved keyboard trays, expanded CPU holders, cable management, and a utility box.
Siemens Display Technologies (Booth #7126) is highlighting a new high-resolution grayscale monitor for medical applications — the 3 MP SMD 213302. Using CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent lamp) technology, the company is able to offer the display at a lower cost than most 3 MP devices with blue-tinted Planon backlighting. As with previous models, the new display incorporates five look-up tables (LUTs). This allows quick adaptation of the display to lighting conditions.
Siemens also is showcasing a 3 MP color SCD 21310 flat-panel display that offers considerable brightness and contrast and is suited for color or hybrid medical imaging applications. The SCD 21310 features all of the elements of Siemens’ automated stability system for DICOM compliance, including an internal ISS sensor, built-in lookup storage, and compatibility with Siemens quality assurance software SMfit ACT.
Siemens also is showing a 2 MP color SHD 21205 flat-panel display, a medical-grade display for applications requiring color or hybrid imaging. The display is designed to have twice the brightness and the life of typical color displays. With the inclusion of built-in DICOM-compliant LUTs and backlight stabilization, the displays offer consistent color and fused images display.
U.S. Electronics (Booth #6535) is debuting two high-luminance, high-contrast medical monochrome LCDs, 2 MP ME253i2 and 3 MP ME355i2, manufactured by Totoku. They come with remote grayscale accuracy check and remote calibration functions and luminance uniformity equalizer.
WIDE (Booth#1974) is introducing new clinical monitors into its catalog of medical displays. The new models — IF1901M and IF1901C — will use LG Philips LCD technology. These user-friendly models will include varies LUT such as DICOM-standard LUT and user-calibrated LUT. Available in 2007, all M-series units will also include a uniformity control function.
