Double Black moves into OR/ER environment
Double Black Imaging (DBI) released their new P-Series line of LCDs and introduced a new 46-inch high-brightness, high-contrast color LCD at this year’s RSNA show, which is “perfect for operating room and ER environments where accurately viewing images at a distance is key.”

Double Black Imaging’s P-Series includes a 2MP monochrome and color LCD, a 3MP monochrome and color LCD and a 5MP monochrome LCD for mammography.  The new line has higher brightness levels on each display with digital uniformity control; 12-Bit processing; a retractable front sensor for true DICOM calibration; a backlight sensor for luminance control and bonded protective panels, according to Tara McCall, sales and marketing manager, DBI.

“People are very interested in self-calibrating and back light monitoring,” McCall said. “Our software runs as a service—completely unobtrusive during work, during the middle of the night and remotely.” DBI said they have bundled these LCDs with a high speed graphic controller (PCI-X or PCI-e) as well as including X-CAL calibration software.

DBI’s a 46-inch color LCD features with full 1920 x 1080 resolution; 450 candelas per square meter brightness; and a contrast ratio of 1700:1, which McCall said enables bright, crisp images to be displayed.  “This splash-proof, drip-proof unit is fan-less and has a rugged metal enclosure, making this LCD ideal for the rigorous demands of OR and ER environments,” she said. “It can even be hosed down after a procedure.”

Multiple inputs including digital DVI-D, component video, composite, S-Video, VGA and RS-232 allow this LCD to work with any system. McCall said that unlike other large format LCDs or plasma screens, this LCD, which includes a three-year on-site warranty, is resistant to image retention or burn-in effects, adding to its performance and reliability.
