DR Systems exhibits latest Unity RIS/PACS platform at SIIM
DR Systems exhibited its latest Unity RIS/PACS (Release 8) platform at SIIM 2007 in Providence, R.I., last week. The Unity is a tightly integrated system with a multitude of functions. One the company was particularly enthused about at the show is Unity’s Dragon voice recognition module, which can be accessed as an icon within the PACS workstation interface. The module is able to produce a report with 90 percent accuracy and 95 percent error-free performance in 15 minutes’ time, according to a voice recognition technology comparison at the show. The system will be in general availability by Q4 2007.

Other notable features of the Unity RIS/PACS include:
  • Patient Link, designed to help hospitals and imaging centers consolidate patient records, without requiring the creation of an enterprise master patient index (EMPI);
  • New data conversion tools for legacy RIS/PACS replacement;
  • Enhanced web-based scheduling capabilities;
  • RIS workflow management including patient pre-authorization, patient flow tracking, film tracking, and task management;
  • New patent-pending image display methods for improved accuracy and efficiency;
  • Enhanced integrated mammography reading, tracking, film digitizing and archiving;
  • Enhanced automated exam specific reporting capabilities;
  • Enhanced multi-database and multi-server capabilities; and
  • Enhanced PACS access from EMRs and HIS web portals
