Elekta to unveil new radiotherapy system
Elekta said it will showcase its radiotherapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, and clinical workflow products at the European Society of Therapeutic Radiation Oncologists (ESTRO) 2007 meeting in Barcelona, Spain, Sept. 8-13.
The Stockholm, Sweden-based firm will also be highlighting a work-in-progress at ESTRO, its new volumetric intensity modulated arc therapy (VMAT) technique. The technology involves moving collimator and gantry during radiotherapy.
The firm said that VMAT together with its x-ray volume imaging can help clinicians reduce treatment time, and the technique also enables helical-like conformality.
