EP MedSystems gets the FDA OK for ultrasound catheter imaging system
EP MedSystems, of West Berlin, N.J., received FDA market clearance for its ViewMate intracardiac ultrasound catheter imaging system.

Using the device, cardiologists and electrophysiologists can view the anatomy of the heart to identify, diagnose and treat a number of heart abnormalities and conditions. ViewMate consists of an advanced ultrasound console with an image monitor and a thin, steer able catheter fitted with a transducer on its tip.

"We see that this product has utility in a broad range of applications in electrophysiology and interventional cardiology," said EP MedSystems Chairman David Jenkins. "For electrophysiology, we believe that intracardiac ultrasound imaging should be adjunct to all atrial fibrillation ablation therapies."
