Endovascular device developer ev3 of Redwood City, Calif., said that it has received European CE Mark approval for its Axium Detachable Coil System. The device was approved for the endovascular embolization of intracranial aneurysms and other neurovascular abnormalities such as arteriovenous malformations and arteriovenous fistulae.

In addition, ev3 said Axium is also intended for use in the European Union for the treatment of peripheral vascular abnormalities.
