FDA clears Aixplorer ultrasound system
SuperSonic Imagine has received FDA 510(k) clearance for its Aixplorer ultrasound system, and will begin to market and deliver the device in the United States.

Aixplorer uses MultiWave technology, which is based on interaction between longitudinal waves and shear waves in tissue. The system consists of software that provides B-mode images and displays tissue stiffness or elasticity information using shear waves, according to the company.

Aix-En-Provence, France-based SuperSonic said its MultiWave imaging also supports TissueTuner, a tool that allows the user to adjust the system’s parameters to match the speed of sound in the tissue being imaged.
