FDA clears SOMATOM Scope CT

The FDA has cleared the SOMATOM Scope system, a 16-slice CT scanner from Siemens Healthcare.

SOMATOM Scope is lightweight and has a low space requirement of 130.2 sq. ft. It was designed for private radiology practices, community hospitals, critical access hospitals, specialty practices such as orthopedics and urology, and veterinary medicine, according to Siemens.

The scanner is available in two configurations, Scope and Scope Power, with the latter featuring a stronger x-ray tube, faster rotation speed and a higher performance generator.
