FDA grants clearance for plaque-clearing device
The U.S. FDA has granted clearance to Cardiovascular Systems’ device, Diamond 360, which clears plaque from blood vessels.

According to the St. Paul, Minn.-based company, its Diamondback 360 can be used to treat peripheral arterial disease, in which plaque blocks large blood vessels in the legs, arms and feet.

The device uses a diamond-coated crown which orbits at high speeds to safely sand away calcified plaque as well as other common types of plaque, according to the company.
