Firstlight Networks introduces Lumen imaging system
Medical imaging network appliance developer Firstlight Networks has launched its Lumen imaging system, technology that allows users to convert an analog modality into a digital capture device in order to collect patient image files for further diagnosis or archival purposes.

Lumen has the capability to simultaneously capture both still images and full motion video, convert it into multiple file types, and deliver files to multiple destinations in real time, according to the Tustin, Calif.-based company.

It creates DICOM files to facilitate upload back into a PACS or patient management system. In addition to DICOM files the system also creates JPEG, PNG, and TIF still image files as well as AVI and MPEG2/4 video files with embedded audio, Firstlight said.
