Florida Hospital forms radiology group
Florida Hospital in Orlando, Fla., has formed a radiology group to replace its existing group, Florida Radiology Associates, whose contract with the hospital system ends June 3.

The new group, Radiology Specialists of Florida, is part of the Florida Physicians Medical Group, a subsidiary of the parent company of Florida Hospital, Adventist Health Systems.

The expiration of the contract between Florida Hospital and Florida Radiology Associates June 3 ended a 40-year relationship between the two groups. The two groups began contract negotiations in December 2006, but called off talks on March 3.

Florida Hospital's new agreement with Radiology Specialists is effective June 4. The group has hired about 50 percent of its staff and is recruiting from Florida Radiology Associates, according to Florida Hospital.

Radiology Associates said it expects to employ about 45 radiologists; meanwhile Florida Radiology reported that it would lay off 49 workers after contract negotiations failed this month.
