GE, DeepBreeze unveil new lung imaging system
GE Healthcare and DeepBreeze, an Or-Akiva, Israel-based vibration response imaging (VRI) technology company, have introduced VRIICU, a non-invasive, radiation-free lung imaging system in Europe.

Developed for ICU and preoperative care area, the VRIICU provides information on the regional movement of air in the mechanically ventilated lung, according to DeepBreeze. Each recording samples 20 seconds of lung sounds, typically covering several breathing cycles, and the image provides clinicians an assessment tool of lung condition, the company said.

The device is currently on display at the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine in Berlin this week

GE Healthcare has received exclusive global rights to market the VRIICU for use in intensive care units and pre-operative care units. The VRIICU is currently not approved in the U.S.
