GE Healthcare brings workflow improvements to vital signs monitors via wireless app
GE Healthcare announced today plans to offer wCareAssist, a wireless application developed by Care Fusion Inc. The application will be available on DINAMAP ProCare and Pro Series vital signs monitors for various applications including neonatal, pediatric and adult care. GE has chosen to combine to the DINAMAP monitor with wCareAssist to provide additional workflow benefits such as eliminating transcription errors and reducing chart time, the companies said.

wCareAssist, which runs on a handheld PDA, allows clinicians to interface patient vital signs from DINAMAP ProCare and Pro Series monitors into an electronic medical record (EMR) without manual transcription and without moving an entire workstation to a patient’s bedside. To do this, the application utilizes barcode technology to verify patient identification information and can be programmed to perform continuous patient monitoring automatically, recording the history of the patient’s vital signs and then sending that information wirelessly to an EMR.
