GE introduces new preclinical CT for cardiac disease research
GE Healthcare Monday released its new pre-clinical CT scanner, GE eXplore CT 120, designed to accelerate research in the areas of cardiac disease and drug development.

Using x-ray source technology derived from clinical systems, the company said its eXplore CT 120 features 100 times the output of previous GE laboratory research imaging systems. The power of the new x-ray source allows for filtering of the x-ray beam, reducing the x-ray dose and scan time.

GE said the scanner's user software utilizes industry-standard DICOM compatibility and an optional analysis workstation assist in image analysis and production of research data.
