GE opens $165M digital mammo production facility in N.Y.
GE Healthcare has opened a new digital mammography production facility at Rensselaer Technology Park in Troy, N.Y.

The 230,000 square-foot facility will bring 150 manufacturing jobs and an annual payroll of $10 million to Rensselaer County. Investment in the facility totals more than $165 million, including a capital grant of $10 million from New York State, according to GE.

The company said that building has achieved LEED Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, making it one of only two semiconductor manufacturing facilities in the country to achieve this status.

GE said this will be the first medical equipment manufacturing expansion into New York State by its healthcare division.
