GE Medical Systems Information Technologies (GEMSIT) has closed on its acquisition of laboratory information systems company Triple G Systems Group Inc. for approximately US$2.40 per share.

GEMSIT President and CEO Dow Wilson says the addition of Triple G will help the Milwaukee company develop a clinical information system for the next generation of electronic medical records. Triple G's lab information systems are licensed to more than 110 healthcare facilities, representing more than 450 clinical labs in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and the Asia-Pacific region.

With its acquisition, Triple G will become a private company no longer listed on its hometown Toronto Stock Exchange.
