Half of Rhode Island physician offices to be connected electronically
It’s a small state, but a Rhode Island physician-owned company is taking a big step and connecting all of its medical offices electronically. All told, this will represent nearly half of all doctors working in the state, the Providence Journal reports.

The Electronic Health Records of Rhode Island (EHRRI) plan will connect physicians from Lifespan hospital group, Women & Infants Hospital, Kent Hospital, Thundermist Health Associates and Coastal Medical

eClinicalWorks has been picked as the software provider for the initiative. The company will be supplying the systems at a discounted rate, but EHRRI hopes that through donations and funds from other organization the price will come down further, according to the Journal.

Testing for the project will occur over the summer at which point the system will be extended to further practices. The group will also provide assistance with installation as well as upkeep.
