Health Language, BridgeForward Software combine technologies
ORLANDO—Health Language (HLI), a language engine technology company for medical vocabulary, and BridgeForward Software, an interface engine technology company for healthcare, have formed a partnership to provide data interoperability to enhance patient safety and revenue cycle management at 2008 HIMSS conference.

The combined solution will consist of BridgeForward’s embedded integration layer, Edge4 and the Aurora, Colo.-based HLI’s LE, which supports patient care management and safety by localizing, updating, disseminating and mapping more than 70 controlled, licensed healthcare terminologies, standards and other terminology-related content, the companies said.

Utilizing open architecture, the Middleton, Mass.-based BridgeForward’s Edge4 provides application suppliers with a standardized and supportable integration platform, according to the companies.

“By leveraging BridgeForward’s technology for HL7 transactions and Health Language’s Language Engine solution to manage the content within those transactions, healthcare organizations no longer need to settle for less than full enterprise-wide interoperability or disparate systems and databases containing coded or unstructured datasets,” said George Schwend, CEO and president of HLI.
