HealthSouth readies to split Ambulatory Services division
HealthSouth Corp. will divide its Ambulatory Services division into Outpatient Rehabilitation and Diagnostics business units to optimize both operations.

The separation, the Birmingham, Ala.-based company said, would mean a "renewed focus" on its 127 health imaging centers across the United States. HealthSouth added that it plans to upgrade the Diagnostics division's information systems, purchase new equipment and create a dedicated sales team for the business.

HealthSouth named Karen Davis as president of the Diagnostics division. She has served at the healthcare provider for nine years in positions such as Diagnostic Group vice president for the eastern United States; CEO for HealthSouth Metro West Hospital; and as national director for clinical trials.

Bob May, who currently serves as HealthSouth's interim CEO and interim president of the Ambulatory Services division, will oversee the new Outpatient Rehabilitation division until a permanent replacement is named.

HealthSouth is the nation's largest provider of outpatient surgery, health imaging and rehabilitative healthcare services, with approximately 1,700 facilities worldwide.
