Hologic posts positive year-end financial results
Hologic reported increased revenues for its fiscal 2007 fourth quarter as well as a sharp upswing in profits for the period.

For the year-end quarter, the Bedford, Mass.-based firm reported revenues of $202,564,000, a 31 percent increase compared to revenues of $154,055,000 in the fourth quarter of 2006.

Hologic booked a net income of $32,110,000, compared with a net loss of $1,473,000 in the same quarter last year. The company attributes the earnings improvement to the increase in product sales of 351 of Selenia, its full-field digital mammography systems in the current quarter as compared to the fourth quarter of fiscal 2006.

The firm reported its mammography/breast care revenues increased by 45 percent to $165,102,000 for the fourth quarter from $114,198,000 for the same period in fiscal 2006, and attributes the growth to increased sales of Selenia together with R2 CAD software.
Hologic said its operating income for this business segment increased to $46,632,000 in the fourth quarter of 2007 compared to an operating income of $6,435,000 in year-ago quarter.
