Hologic posts revenue gains for third quarter in a row
Provider of women's diagnostic imaging systems and digital imaging systems Hologic Inc. has announced third quarter results for FY04, ending June 26.

Third quarter fiscal 2004 revenues increased 13 percent and totaled $59.22 million, compared with $52.33 million in the third quarter of FY03. Hologic reported net income of $3.3 million, compared with net income of $1.02 million in the year-ago quarter.

For the nine-month period, revenues tallied $164.8 million, compared with $151.6 million in the first three months of FY03. Net income escalated to $6.95 million, compared with $282,000 in the year-ago period.

Hologic said its improvements in earnings reflect increased installments of its full field digital mammography system, Selenia. During the third quarter, Hologic said it installed and recognized as revenue 37 units.

In terms of financial overview by segment, Hologic's mammography revenues increased 41 percent to $30.6 million, compared with $21.8 million in the third quarter of FY03. Digital detector revenues increased 112 percent to $4.68 million, compared with $2.21 million in the third quarter of FY03. According to Hologic, the increase was primarily due to a significant increase in the number of general radiography and mammography digital detectors sold to their OEMs.
