Hospital begins $75 million facility expansion

West Virginia University Hospital (WVU) has broken ground on its $75 million expansion project.

 The 180,000 square foot expansion of WVU's Ruby Memorial hospital is set for completion in 2005. It will include 37 additional acute-care beds, a 30-bed long-term acute-care hospital, 14 additional intensive care beds and six additional operating rooms.

 WVU Hospitals currently operates 380 beds at Ruby Memorial and 70 beds to the adjacent Chestnut Ridge psychiatric hospital.
