Hewlett Packard demonstrated multi-tier storage systems for PACS at SIIM 2007 in Providence, R.I., last week. The company makes this possible through its HP StorageWorks products that have been qualified by several major PACS vendors for both Tier 1 and Tier 2 (long term archival) storage. The system uses intelligent software encoded policies to simplify migration of images between HP StorageWorks platforms.

Leveraging a grid-based architecture, the HP MAS can also expand to accommodate considerable data expansion.
