Hx Technologies has announced that free, open-source licensing is available for the Xebra platform, designed for web-based distribution and clinical review of medical imaging.

The Philadelphia-based company said that Xebra, which has FDA 510(k) clearance, aims to provide healthcare organizations and other vendors with all the necessary components to securely transmit and review medical images over a network.

The PACS-compatible platform enables access to web distribution/review features previously found only in proprietary, closed software and can run on any operating system, the company said.

Hx Technologies said that Xebra contains encryption and network security features well-suited for health information exchanges, regional health information organizations, electronic health records and personal health records accessed over the web.
