Heartlab Inc. this week announced that its co-founder and medical director has been selected for a leadership position in the Cardiology initiative of "Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise" (IHE).
Jonathan Elion, MD, FACC, has been selected as co-chair of IHE's Cardiology Technical Committee. The technical committee creates the detailed technical framework for information interchange based on existing healthcare IT standards. The technical framework helps vendors develop and test interoperability of products for capturing, managing and archiving medical images and patient data
The IHE began in 1997 and is sponsored jointly by the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). The organization is a collaborative effort among medical associations to improve the way computer systems share and manage healthcare data. The IHE's new Cardiology efforts are co-sponsored by the American College of Cardiology (ACC).
