IMCO Technologies featured a new PACS product called VIP-PACS at the recent RSNA meeting in Chicago. VIP-PACS is "an affordable, fully featured PACS for smaller healthcare facilities," the company said.
   
VIP-PACS consists of three versions -- basic, standard and premium -- to offer different entry levels. Each VIP-PACS product includes flat-panel monitors and the full-featured IMCO-view workstation software that is sold on the larger IMCO-PACS product, enough image storage for smaller facilities, and IMCO-web in the premium package, the company said.
   
IMCO did a pilot program in conjunction with Walter Reed Army Medical Center in which its wireless product IMCO-STAT was tested. IMCO-STAT's capabilities were showcased at the conference, such as transmitting information in a variety of ways, using images, text, voice clips, streaming video and digitized hand-written notes.

Automatic return receipt is a unique feature of IMCO-STAT, as is audible alerts for incoming messages and the ability to create a log of events to meet HIPPA standards. IMCO-STAT is compatible with existing DICOM-compliant PACS installations and the system is applicable for the emergency department, ICU/CCU/PCU/NICU, operating rooms, exam rooms, patient floors and any other STAT situation, IMCO said.
