AngioDynamics, a maker of therapeutic and diagnostic devices, has completed the acquisition of RITA Medical Systems, a developer of products used for oncology therapy.
IntraOp said in 2006 it sold five and accepted orders for eight Mobetron self-shielding linear accelerators for administering electron-beam radiation therapy during cancer surgery. The company accepted orders from U.S. cancer centers as well as Belgium, Poland, China, Italy, Japan and the Netherlands. To date, the Mobetron is being used in seven countries and has helped broaden interest in IOERT for the treatment of a broad spectrum of cancers in various stages of severity, the company said.
Perceptive Software said its ImageNow enterprise document management, imaging and workflow software has achieved the Common Criteria Evaluation and Validation Scheme for IT Security (CCEVS) at Evaluation Assurance Level 2+ through the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP). The United States and 22 other countries (including Australia, the Czech Republic, India, Japan and the United Kingdom) recognize the Common Criteria as the official third-party evaluation criteria for IT security procedures.
NIAP is a U.S. government initiative between the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the National Security Agency (NSA). The CCEVS is a national program for the evaluation of information technology products for conformance to the International Common Criteria for Information Technology Security Evaluation.
