Industry round-up: Amerinet, ASRT, Commissure, EBM Technologies, Konica Minolta, NetApp
Following announcements of deals with Fujifilm and Kodak, group purchasing organization Amerinet has also inked a deal with Konica Minolta Medical Imaging for CR, laser imagers, and medical imaging films. The contracts include Konica Minolta’s REGIUS CR products, DRYPRO Dry Laser Imagers and the company’s branded film. The deal is in effect through December 2009.


To honor Royce Osborn, R.T., the first African American president of ASRT, the Education and Research Foundation of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists announced seven students have been awarded scholarships for the Royce Osborn Minority Student Scholarship Program. The scholarships, worth $4,000 each, are presented annually to outstanding minority students attending accredited, entry-level radiologic science programs. This year’s recipients are:
  • Elsamani I. Abdelfadiel of Richmond, Va., enrolled in a nuclear medicine bachelor’s degree program at Virginia Commonwealth University;
  • Bettina A. Brown of San Antonio, enrolled in a radiography associate degree program at St. Phillips College;
  • Adnan M. Kaiser of Atlantic City, N.J., enrolled in a radiologic technology certificate program at Shore Memorial Hospital School of Radiologic Technology.
  • Thanh M. Khong of Boston, enrolled in a nuclear medicine bachelor’s degree program at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
  • Tammi M. Kinchlow of Indianapolis, enrolled in a radiologic technology associate degree program at Ivy Tech Community College.
  • Hector A. Navarro of Avon, Ind., enrolled in a radiography associate degree program at Indian University School of Medicine.
  • Mina H. Tonnu of Gardena, Calif., enrolled in a radiography associate degree program at the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science.

Commissure recently commenced installation of its radiology speech reporting application RadWhere Suite at Flushing Hospital Medical Center in Queens, New York. The system will be integrated with Vocada’s Veriphy, a critical test results management (CTRM) application. The facility will be able to track and report critical values or positive findings to referring physicians.

Flushing Hospital Medical Center is part of MediSys Health Network, which also includes Jamaica Hospital Medical Center and Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center. RadWhere Suite will serve as the primary speech reporting application for all three facilities.


EBM Technologies announced today that the company has agreed to a multi-million dollar PACS deal with Mackay Memorial Hospital, a large, prominent multi-site Medical Center located in Taiwan’s capital.  The deal calls for the installation of EBM’s PACS and the possible incorporation of other EBM healthcare products. Mackay Memorial Hospital’s four-site facility will use EBM’s Diagnostic and Reviewing stations, UniSight, and storage and utility servers, UniServer, to integrate images and information from Mackay’s two sites (Taipei and Tamshui) while utilizing EBM’s web-based systems in the remaining two units (Taitung and Hsinchu City).  Consolidating information from multiple sites. 


Network Appliance made Forbes magazine’s “400 Best Big Companies in America” list for 2007, an annual listing that appears in the January 8, 2007, issue. NetApp is one of 20 companies in the technology hardware and equipment category. The Forbes 400 list is developed from over 1,000 corporations with $1 billion or more in revenues, using metrics such as the latest 12-month and five-year stock market returns, sales and earnings-per-share growth, and debt-to-capital ratios.
