Commissure recently commenced installation of its radiology speech reporting application RadWhere Suite at Beverly Hospital in Beverly, Mass. In addition to utilizing the application within its radiology department, Beverly Hospital is also looking at applying a number of RadWhere Suite’s features to its cardiology workflow.

OB-Net and OB-View Net are designed for fully functional remote interpretation of ultrasound studies away from the office. Both systems offer automated report dissemination, auto-generation of referral letters, and are fully HIPAA compliant with electronic signature and audit trail.
 

Mazor Surgical Technologies is showcasing a new system for precise placement of artificial discs at the North American Spine Society Annual Meeting (NASS) in Seattle. Mazor’s DiscAssist is designed to reduce the length and complexity of lumbar and thoracic disc replacement surgeries. Using DiscAssist, surgeons develop an extremely precise but simple 3D surgical blueprint that includes artificial disc sizing and precise disc placement, inclusive of alignment and orientation, the company says. To assist surgeons in optimizing the plan, DiscAssist calculates the center of disc rotation, simulates the effects of artificial disc placement on adjacent vertebrae, and evaluates other important parameters. 
 

Five facilities in the Midwest have inked deals to install NovaPACS from NovaRad. The newly signed facilities include Central Nebraska Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, Grand Island, Neb.; 25-bed Grape Community Hospital, Hamburg, Iowa; 89-bed Mitchell County Hospital, Beloit, Kan.; 21-bed Pawnee County Memorial Hospital, Pawnee City, Neb.; and 25-bed York General Hospital, York, Neb.

Philips Medical Systems and the Poudre Valley Health System (PVHS) announced a multi-year agreement to install diagnostic imaging equipment and a comprehensive healthcare informatics system throughout PVHS, which serves patients and families in northern Colorado, southern Wyoming, and western Nebraska. Patients will benefit from the new Philips diagnostic imaging equipment including magnetic resonance, CT, cardiology and radiology PACS, nuclear medicine, general and cardiac ultrasound, and digital and general radiography and fluoroscopy. 
 

Siemens Medical Solutions announced its ACUSON Antares ultrasound system 4.0, premium edition. This edition features shared service cardiology applications in addition to the complete range of general imaging applications and advanced clinical applications such as 3D/4D and contrast agent imaging. With its enhanced imaging performance, the system is designed to enable physicians to better view disease, even with the most technically difficult-to-image patients. The Antares system also includes a high-resolution 19-inch flat panel display mounted on an articulating arm for optimal viewing position. Other ergonomic features include the natural and extended reach zone concept that places controls and peripheral devices so that they are easily accessible.
