InSight Health Service completes buy of 21 imaging centers
InSight Health Service Corp. has finalized its acquisition of 21 medical imaging centers in six states.

The facilities were owned by Comprehensive Medical Imaging, a subsidiary of Cardinal Health Inc. Cardinal had purchased the centers as part of its acquisition of Syncor International Inc. The imaging centers are located in California, Arizona, Texas, Kansas, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

The InSight-Cardinal deal continues a string of acquisitions for InSight over the last 12 months. In April 2003, InSight purchased 13 medical imaging centers from Cardinal - also former Syncor International properties -- located in the greater Los Angeles and southern California region.

In July 2003, InSight bought 14 MRI units, four positron emission tomography (PET) units and one lithotripsy unit from CDL Medical Technologies Inc.'s mobile imaging business. The mobile systems operated in nine states in the eastern United States. CDL is based in Wexford, Pa.
