IntelliDOT, Cisco to deliver wireless solution for hospital clinical asset location
IntelliDOT, a provider of wireless handheld, barcode point-of-care (BPOC) solutions to hospitals, is collaborating with Cisco, a provider of enterprise wireless LAN infrastructure, to develop a new mobile solution for clinical asset location in hospitals.

The companies said the initiative is based on an enhancement of the wireless, handheld IntelliDOT CAREt System BPOC solution and integration with the Cisco Context Aware Mobility solution, via an open application programming interface that runs on the new Cisco 3300 Series Mobility Services Engine.

"With the Cisco Context-Aware Software providing contextual information to IntelliDOT CAREt medical applications on a wireless handheld unit, staff have the real-time information they need to locate and utilize their handheld BPOC devices and other medical equipment in the most safe and efficient way,” said Thomas G. Klopack, president and CEO of IntelliDOT.

The San Jose, Calif.-based Cisco and the San Diego-based IntelliDOT said their co-developed wireless BPOC solution will help hospitals quickly locate critical equipment and resources, including IV infusion pumps, portable vital signs monitoring equipment, handheld electronic thermometers, wheelchairs, patient medical charts and personnel.
