Iron Mountain, an information protection and storage services company, reported that it has acquired RMS Services – USA of Southfield, Mich., a $27 million records management company and the provider of outsourced file room services for hospitals.

The Boston-based Iron Mountain said it will retain former RMS employees, including Ed Santangelo, RMS president and CEO, as well as his leadership team. When the acquisition is complete, Santangelo will become president of Iron Mountain’s Health Information Services Consulting subsidiary.

With the RMS acquisition, Iron Mountain stated that it will better equipped to deliver comprehensive health information management services to file rooms and film management challenges of healthcare providers.

At present, terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
