Judge rules no willful infringement in AngioDynamics patent case
The U.S. District Court in the Northern District of California has granted AngioDynamics a motion for summary judgment of no willful infringement in the patent litigation brought by the San Jose, Calif.-based VNUS Medical Technologies against Diomed, AngioDynamics and Vascular Solutions.

Judge Maxine Chesney found that VNUS was not able to establish that AngioDynamics willfully infringed the VNUS patents. The ruling prevents the potential tripling of damages in the event that a jury finds infringement by AngioDynamics, according to the Queensbury, N.Y.-based firm.

The trial start date, originally slated to begin Oct. 29, has now been delayed and not re-scheduled due to time constraints of the court.
