Kodak gets Health Canada OK for CR mammography system
Eastman Kodak Company has gotten the go ahead from Health Canada for its computed radiography (CR) system for mammography, and plans to immediately begin selling the systems in that country.

The Kodak DIRECTVIEW CR Mammography Feature is designed to enable mammography images to be captured digitally while utilizing the health provider's existing mammography x-ray unit. The optional feature is available with the company’s DIRECTVIEW CR 850 or CR 975 system or as a retrofit to currently installed Kodak CR 850/950/975 systems, the company said.

Kodak's CR for mammography has been available in Europe, Greater Asia, Japan and Latin America for over 18 months and has been installed in clinics, breast imaging centers and hospitals. Kodak has also applied for regulatory approval from the FDA in order to begin selling this system in the U.S.
