Kodak rolls out CR, PACS at Long Island Hospital
Operations at Central Suffolk Hospital of Riverhead, N.Y., are going filmless as the 214-bed hospital purchased digital image capture and information management systems from Eastman Kodak Company's Health Imaging Group.

Kodak says Central Suffolk ordered a Kodak DirectView PACS (picture archiving and communication systems) System 5, Kodak DirectView CR 500 and CR 950 computed radiography (CR) systems, as well as a Kodak DryView 8900 Laser Imaging System.

The CR 950 system will provide digital capture of all general radiology exams, while the CR 500 system will capture inter-operative images in the operating suite. The PACS System 5 will manage and store imaging studies from the CR systems as well as all other digital imaging modalities. The Web distribution system will make imaging studies immediately available to referring physicians working at hospital workstations or remote locations.

The imager will print imaging studies to film as needed for patients and referring physicians.
