MacSpeech debuts voice transcription add-on
MacSpeech, a speech recognition vendor for the Macintosh platform, has released MacSpeech Scribe Medical, a personal transcription add-on, at the Macworld Conference and Expo 2010 in San Francisco.

MacSpeech Scribe Medical is an add-on for the company's MacSpeech Dictation Medical speech recognition software. MacSpeech Scribe Medical requires Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and can transcribe voice dictation files into written text with up to 99 percent accuracy, said Salem, N.H.-based MacSpeech.

The software supports languages from 54 medical and dental disciplines and specialties, including general medicine, cardiology, OB/GYN, pediatrics, radiology, neurology and oncology, according to MacSpeech. The MacSpeech Scribe Medical add-on is available by download from the company web site and only to registered MacSpeech Dictate Medical customers, the company said.
