Mass. hospital taps Toshiba for 160-slice CT

Emerson Hospital in Concord, Mass., has installed Toshiba America Medical Systems’ Aquilion PRIME 160 CT system for CT angiography, orthopedic imaging and other general exams.

The Aquilion PRIME is an 80-detector row CT system that can generate 160 unique slices per rotation and features a 7.5 MHU large-capacity tube and 0.35-second scanning, according to Tustin, Calif.-based Toshiba America Medical Systems. The system also features AIDR 3D, Toshiba’s iterative dose reconstruction software.

The system’s 78 cm aperture gantry and 660-pound patient weight capacity will eliminate the need to refer some bariatric patients to other facilities, according to Emerson Hospital.
