Matrox releases new product for OR integration
Dec. 5 – Matrox Graphics launched Onyx, a companion board graphics card for the Matrox Equinox series of graphic extension technology for OR planning, control and education, during the 93rd scientific assembly and annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) in Chicago last week.

The benefit of using the Equinox series in combination with Onyx is that it removes the PC from the OR, providing less clutter, less noise and more control over images in the environment, according to Patricia Jreige, marketing, medical imaging, at Matrox.

“Onyx provides a window into the operating room for planning and control room staff,” Jreige said. “It allows you to have the images on display in the OR and in the control room as well which is advantageous in preoperative planning.”

When asked what is on the horizon for Matrox in the new year, Jreige said to look for products that address uniform digital luminance correction, which will possibly be incorporated onto their graphic boards in early 2008.
