McKesson to provide $480M shared services for NHS, creating 300 jobs
McKesson is opening a shared service center in Bangor, Wales, to support integrated payroll and human resources for the U.K. National Health Service (NHS).

A consortium led by McKesson, which includes Oracle and IBM, will supply the NHS with the system, called Electronic Staff Record (ESR), a $480 million contract that will create 300 jobs over the next three years, according to McKesson.

The ESR system was designed to transform the way the NHS delivers both HR and payroll services to its employees, McKesson said. The company said that the system will create cost efficiencies and service improvement and enable the NHS to have a clear view of its workforce, identify any skills shortages or gaps and provide payroll information, appraisal and training provision.

The company also said that its Bangor location will be the company’s largest center in the United Kingdom outside its Warwick headquarters.
