Medrad demonstrated at RSNA 2006 its Stellant D CT Injection System with SmartFlow technology that is designed to improve timing for cardiac CT imaging. SmartFlow automatically suggests injection protocols by factoring in patient-specific parameters, a time-consuming process if done manually.
The advanced application allows a site to set preferences, such as flow rates or grams of iodine over time, in advance. The technologist then needs only to enter a few patient-specific parameters to activate the Stellant SmartFlow software, which calculates a suggested protocol. This protocol can be used as-is or adjusted at the user’s discretion. Users also have the option to include a saline test inject for vein patency, a test bolus for contrast timing, or a diagnostic injection with contrast, DualFlow, and saline flush.
According to Medrad, SmartFlow is pending FDA 510(k) clearance.
