Merge shows updated RIS/PACS
Last week at SIIM 2007 in Providence, R.I., Merge Healthcare showcased its Fusion RIS/PACS MX, an imaging informatics solution that moves beyond the simple interfacing of RIS and PACS applications designed for imaging centers, hospitals, multi-facility physician practices and specialty clinics. Fusion RIS/PACS MX helps these organizations achieve new efficiencies by blending together the advantages of a tightly-integrated RIS and PACS. Fusion RIS/PACS MX features a matrix viewing platform, a more robust user interface, easier workflow and better tools. The system also has integrated digital dictation and document scanning for 100 percent paperless workflow.

The exam-driven workflow means that an exam is on someone’s worklist at all times. That’s important since an empty scanner represents lost revenue. The system also is configured to seek out precertified authorizations, accommodating different locations and time zones in the process. A master jacket is designed to let radiologists know about past exams. An instant messaging system allows up to five interrupt sessions so that clinicians can communicate between workstations about higher priority cases. The RIS updates itself every 30 seconds so that users are working with the most current data.
