NCD Medical rolls out eWIX
Imaging systems and service provider NCD Medical of Eastlake, Ohio, has debuted its electronic-Worldwide Information Exchange (eWIX) web repository service for clinical imaging. The firm said that the offering is a lower-cost alternative for diagnostic imaging center PACS processes.

The eWIX offering requires no upfront capital spending, no hardware or software to purchase and maintain, and a service that doesn't depreciate in value, the company said.

NCD said that practices subscribing to the eWIX service pay a monthly fee based on the amount of storage used and the amount of users requiring access to the system. The HIPAA-compliant service allows users to conduct a full range of PACS functions, including document imaging, film archiving and disaster recovery, according to the company.

For facilities that are already PACS-enabled, eWIX can be used for archiving PACS data. The firm said its eWIX system was recently upgraded to improve its image compression and comply with HL7 standards for RIS and hospital information systems.
