NDS Surgical Imaging products now RoHS-compliant
NDS Surgical Imaging, a manufacturer of medical electronics equipment for digital operating rooms and surgical suites, has announced that its standard products are now compliant with the European Union directive for the reduction of hazardous substances (RoHS), which prohibits products that contain any of six specific substances.

Lead-free construction is the most prominent requirement for electronics under the RoHS directive.

A cross-functional team was implemented to achieve RoHS compliance by working with external suppliers and internal personnel to implement, control, document and ensure compliance with this environmental standard, according to San Jose, Calif.-based NDS.

Existing NDS software and firmware operate transparently with the RoHS-compliant versions, which are drop-in compatible to non-RoHS-compliant versions, said NDS.
