NEC increases medical imaging displays lineup
NEC Electronics America today introduced two 21.3-inch amorphous-silicon thin-film transistor (TFT) LCD modules for medical imaging applications.

The Santa Clara, Calif.-based company said the new color display modules represent the first application of NEC LCD Technologies' proprietary ultra-advanced, super-fine TFT (UA-SFT) display technology in a 21.3-inch LCD. Combined with NEC LCD Technologies' newly designed high-intensity, direct-backlight system, the modules achieve very high luminance levels, high contrast ratios, high brightness uniformity and ultra-wide viewing angles, said the company.

"These new modules fulfill the increasingly complex and sophisticated display needs of the medical community by delivering superior performance and the hard-to-achieve precise image quality needed for x-ray interpretation and medical diagnosis," said Shigehiko Satoh, PhD, associate vice president and general manager, displays strategic business unit, NEC Electronics America.
