NEMA's imaging division gets new name

The medical division of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association has taken on a new name - The Medical Imaging & Technology Alliance.

The division is a collective voice of medical imaging equipment manufacturers, innovators, and product developers. The new name has been decided upon to provide a broad umbrella that represents the full scope of the diverse technologies and companies that comprise medical imaging. These include diagnostic technology, radiation therapy, imaging-guided treatment, health information systems, and telehealth, among others. MITA will remain a division of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association.

MITA function will remain as a standards-development organization for medical imaging equipment. The standards are voluntary guidelines that establish commonly accepted methods of design, production, and distribution for imaging products.
