The FDA has cleared SymCare Personalized Health Solutions' inTouch·diabetes Web-based system, which uses biometric data, education and a rewards program to better engage patients in their diabetes management.

The West Chester, Pa.-based company said the inTouch·diabetes features:

• Individualized program by showing trends, providing diabetes education and supplying other information;
• Automatically collects blood sugar readings from a glucose meter and wirelessly transmits them to a secure Web site, and also enables text messaging to cell phones;
• Offers live one-on-one discussions about information that patients can discuss with their healthcare providers; and
• Provides health content from Johns Hopkins University and diet and exercise programs from e-Diets.
