New name, new division for Smart Document Solutions
Smart Document Solutions, provider of health information management technologies and services, has renamed itself SDS. Simultaneously, the company has organized into three divisions—Release-of-Information, Document Management, and Healthcare Consulting.
The newly added Document Management division will provide on- and off-site document conversion and storage, an electronic document management system via a deployed software or ASP solution, and a claims attachment solution to help accelerate the revenue cycle for hospitals. The new Healthcare Consulting division provides on-site and remote coding, departmental audits and assessments, interim management and cancer registry services.
In September 2006, the company will also re-brand its entire technology solution suite around the HealthPort family name, launch a new portal that will allow many medical record requestors, such as attorneys and insurance companies, to request and receive medical records online, the company said.
To go along with this change, the company has developed a new corporate brand and logo, which will debut at the AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association) convention and exhibit in October 2006.
