McKesson has made available its Connect-RN for nurses, which integrates bar-code medication administration, medication cabinets and pharmacy information systems on a single mobile device.
The primary use of the Connect-RN is for medication retrieval and administration. The system offers nurses automatic list generation of medications to be administered and identifies the exact locations for all specified medications, including stationary or mobile medication cabinets, and carts. Also, through the Horizon MedComm-Rx order transmission system, nurses also can electronically notify the pharmacy and prioritize missing doses, refill requests, schedule changes, input overrides and other routine communications.
Ontario, Canada-based Medicalis Corporation launched upgraded capabilities for the management of pre-authorization requests for Radiology Benefits Management (RBM) programs. Medicalis is the developer of Percipio radiology solutions which provide clinical decision support and order-entry applications that improve the quality, efficiency and utilization of diagnostic imaging. The company first introduced tools for specific pre-authorization programs in 2005 and has now extended its capabilities to simultaneously manage multiple programs from multiple Payers.
Percipio RBM solutions help physician offices and radiology groups manage the complexities of pre-authorization programs and provide capabilities. For instance, the comprehensive guidance provided by Percipio replaces the need for physician offices to retain details of the various authorization programs and can eliminate the need to contact third party call centers. Through the system, orders communicated to radiology now have the appropriate credentials and the clerical effort for both physician offices and radiology is reduced.
