New x-ray system emerges from NovaRay, Triple Ring collaboration
Medical imaging provider NovaRayMedical and business research and development group Triple Ring Technologies have developed an x-ray imaging system utilizing processing technology from Nethra Imaging, a Santa Clara, Calif.-based diagnostic imaging company.

The Newark, Calif.-based companies said that the new system utilizes Nethra’s massively parallel processor array architecture to sustain an image reconstruction rate of 32 slices, every 1/20 of a second, which will can result in up to a 10-fold reduction in radiation exposure.

The x-ray system can be used for interventional cardiology applications where real-time imaging is required to guide the placement of devices- including angioplasty balloons, stents and artificial heart valves- more accurately than existing x-ray systems that offer 2D imaging capabilities, said Nethra.
