New York hospital sees financial improvements through Eclipsys system
St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center in Syracuse, N.Y., has reported documented improved cash collections, close to 100 percent registration accuracy, and recovered over $20 million in revenues over budget through use of the Eclipsys Sunrise Access Manager/Patient Financial Manager, the company’s revenue cycle management software.

The Sunrise system provides healthcare organizations with a comprehensive, enterprise-wide master person index (EMPI), scheduling, registration and patient accounting solution that includes a combined business office.

St. Joseph’s installed the system back in 1999, and since also has reported reduced net days in accounts receivable to 56 days, a reduction of 34 percent; cash collections $3 million above goal; recovered $1.8 million in insurance company underpayments; a drop in denied claims; maximized reimbursement from managed-care contracts due to improved verification; and improved communication with insurance companies and health plans.
